Rules

  • A zigzag subdivides into 3 waves
  • Waves A and C subdivide into a motive wave
  • Wave A can only be an impulse or a leading diagonal
  • Wave B can take on any corrective shape that does not retrace more than 100% of Wave A

Guidelines

  • Waves A and C are often about the same size
  • Wave C truncations (lower high than wave A) are extremely rare
  • B-wave sideways patterns tend to retrace between 23%-50% of Wave A
  • B-wave zigzag patterns tend to retrace between 50%-78% of Wave A
